New Students in 2026- Spaces available!
If your child knows the skill they would like to do, New Youth students 8 - 17 years can join into an age appropriate class where ever we have spaces using the ‘book a class’ buttton.
If they are not decided on the skill, check for availability via email. Or to confirm a place or go onto a skill/ class waitlist. info@aerialdays.com
Single Trial classes will be offered only after the term has started and where we have available spaces remaining. Book for a single or trial class. We release these once the term has started and where we have spaces available.
NEW SILKS STUDENTS
Silks are much more challenging than they look! To ensure a good class experience we require all potential silks students to have upper body strength with proven aerial experience and aerial awareness.
Silks in many youth classes are currently full. Children can be added to the waitlist for a particular class or any silks space.
We recommend youth wanting to join a silks class, to join hoop or trapeze for at least a term in their preferred class. Then when a space becomes available for them in that class, in silks, we can move them easily. We will offer our current students already in that class and on the silks waitlist, an available silks space before new students.
ADVANCED SILKS YOUTH STUDENTS
Young people 14-17 years can join out new ‘Advanced’ Level silks class on Saturdays 10-11am. To join this class students will need at least 3 years silks training. We will ask to show evidence of, and have completed, at least a 3 minute sequence on the silks, with at height inverts and a clean safe technique.
Youth FAQ’s
DO YOU HAVE CLASS FOR UNDER 8 YEARS?
Yes, in our 6-8 years Thursday 4pm to 445pm class! We start from 8 years and above in our other classes!
We created a separate class for 6-8 years as: -
1. Aerial skills has a high health and safety element which younger children may not appreciate and we need more staff/less students to accommodate them.
2. Our other regular youngest class age range is 8-12 years. It can be quite a different learning experience for a 6/7 and 11/12 year old in the same class. We have found it too challenging for the students and teachers.
DOES EACH STUDENT HAVE THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT DURING CLASS?
We aim to give each young person their own apparatus for the duration of the class. Sometimes we may need to share equipment if we have more students than we were expecting in the class or there is not enough lower/smaller apparatus.
WILL STUDENTS CHANGE SKILLS DURING THE TERM?
Only In the Thursday 4pm class, students rotate skills. In regular classes students will stay with the one skill for the term.
Once students have experienced aerial skills we suggest the gain a deeper understanding of the apparatus by staying with one skill for the term. In regular classes and throughout the term, students will progress their skills and they may learn more challenging moves, as well as how to put all the small sequences together to create their own routines when staying with one skill.
DO YOU HAVE AN INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED LEVEL YOUTH CLASS?
The Wednesday class, 5.30-6.30pm Trapeze, is for intermediate youth aerial students. The Saturday 10am-11am Silks class is for advanced students only. Students will focus on one skill, with an expectation of conditioning and stretching at home and focused attention within class. Please contact us for your child’s suitability. Intermediate Aerial students are those who have done at least 2-3 consistent years of aerial and are confident and capable in the air. They will need experience to work on the more challenging moves and transitions taught in these classes.
CAN PARENTS/ GUARDIANS WATCH A CLASS?
During the term: Watch through the doors of the gym after 6pm and on weekends. During the last class of the term, we will invite you inside the class during the last class of the term around 30 minutes after the start of class.
Please be aware parents and families are not allowed on school premises before 6pm on weekdays due to the child protection policy of the venue (the school) we use. Only if the child is nervous and for the first class can the parent accompany the child into the building. Please let us know you are coming before 6pm.
After 6pm and weekends parents/ guardians may sit in the annex by our gym or in the downstairs courtyard or outside the gate to wait for the young people.
WILL YOU HAVE AN END OF TERM SHOW?
At the end of each term, we have a non compulsory ‘showing of work’ to allow families to watch an open class of their childs’ aerial skill. It is usually around 30 minutes into the class. We will send an email regarding the precise time. The date will be in your child’s last class of the term.
We offer the young people the choice, if they wish to show something to a bigger audience of all the families or not. They may decide they are not showing anything this term and we will support them in their choice. If you can’t make it we can send a video via WhatsApp or another method you know!
DO YOU SUPPORT DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD?
The student (or parent) MUST email info@aerialdays.com and make clear their 3 goals at the beginning of term for the following term.
During the term these goals will be evaluated before signing the skills off!
Email us for help and advice regarding setting goals.
We won’t be able to evaluate students at the end of term, if they didn’t inform us at the start they were doing DofE and set goals.
WHAT SHOULD THEY WEAR?
Leggings, close fitting tracksuit pants or something comfortable that you can move in that covers the backs of your knees. Nothing too loose or baggy so it won’t fall down or get caught. On your top half, we ask young people to wear a t-shirt or leotard that is long enough so it covers your mid-section and doesn’t go over your head when you go upside down.
No bare midriff or shorts, that expose bare legs.
The venue has heating but working on the aerial equipment can be hot or cool so different layers are a good idea. Thick socks, leg warmers or ankle straps (like the elastic or neoprene ones for ankle sprain) to cover and protect your feet are good to bring, especially when repeating certain moves.
Clothes without zips are needed. We ask students to remove rings, watches and bracelets. Leaving jewellery and strong perfumes at home.
